Chipmunk!
Yesterday I saw a chipmunk in my backyard. Luckily, my camera was near. I took some photos of it.
I noticed that the chipmunk was eating some seeds from my bird feeder that spilled over.
I got very close to the little chipmunk. It was really cool! But when I tried to get closer, he tried to run away!!!!!!!!
The chipmunk was really cute. He had lots of stripes. He was like a striped squirrel!
If this chipmunk was my pet, I'd name him Thistle!
~Yellow Pine Chipmunk Facts~
This chipmunk is a yellow pine chipmunk. It's scientific name is Neotamias amoenus.
They like to eat lots of fruits and seeds.
Yellow pine chipmunks stuff food in their cheeks in the fall to take to their burrows.
They are common in meadows, rocky places and yellow pine and juniper forests.
The boy chipmunks are slightly smaller then the girl ones.

Photos, Blue Spruce Journal and "Alpha" Bean Journal
Here is a close up of a really cool flower. It's purple with green around it. I thought it was really pretty.
This picture, believe or not, is really not the jungle! It is one of the grasses in my backyard. But it does look like a jungle where a leopard is waiting!
This is the journal of the "Alpha" Bean plant, starting June 20th, 2010. Today it is 8cm tall. No beans or flowers yet.
This is the journal of my Blue Spruce tree, starting June 20th, 2010. Today it is 40cm tall.
Strawberry Picking!
Today we went to Rose Family Farm to pick strawberries. After we picked juicy red strawberries, we ate some french fries. Yum! Then we went home and made strawberry slushies which were yummy.
When we came home, I explored our backyard for some really interesting pictures. And I took some very cool pictures!
I will post some of the pictures soon. Thanks for reading!

The Thought Behind The American Goldfinch
The thought behind the goldfinch.
What made me make a goldfinch rock was that we had two finch feeders in the backyard. Just at that right moment, a boy finch was sitting at one. He was bright yellow! So I quickly made a finch rock.
American Gold Finch Facts
These bright birds are called Wild Canaries.
Its beak can be pink for most of the year but orange for some of the year.
Did you know these gold finches eat thistle seeds?
The Meaning Of The Humming Bird
This is the meaning about the humming bird.
The humming bird is a ruby-throated hummingbird. The hummingbird that inspired me to make this rock was the one that would always visit my backyard.
Facts About Ruby Throated Hummingbirds
Only the boy humming bird has a ruby throat. Both the girl and boy has green feathers.
These hummingbirds make squeaky chirps.
Hummingbirds are the only birds that can fly backwards.
The Secret Of The Owl Rock
This is the secret behind this owl rock! (Made by doing the hot rock craft)
The owl which is a barn owl, (scientific name: Tyto Alba) is the main character of the book I'm writing, called Owls Of Sacred Forest.
Barn owls are my absolute favourite owls. I just love their heart shaped faces.
Barn Owl Facts
Barn owls are odd in a way- They don't hoot like other owls, they make shreeing shrieks.
Barn owls are almost totally silent!
They have very good hearing.
They like to hang out near farms, fields and woodlands.
